Mukouda’s Employees [Part 3]
Â
Tabasa
She had always been the responsible one.
The one who made the final decision and the one who is responsible for pushing the team forward. It was also her decision that landed her and her team in slave debt in the first place. Therefore, after taking on the debt, she had allowed other team members to leave the team, but her stupid brothers refused to leave with them.
Instead, like a pair of buttheads they were, they had entered into slavery with Tabasa.
It was quite a sight to see three Tiger Beastmen in slave collars.
However, she was sure of her own strength to endure, of her brothers’ resilience, and knew that they would eventually overcome this particular challenge in life as well.
As she sat waiting in her room at that slave trader’s place, she had forced herself to mentally prepare for all the coming challenges. She imagined that it would involve hard work, long hours and perhaps, even some humiliating incidents.
What she actually encountered was… Mukouda-san.
Mukouda-san was not used to slaves; that much was clear right at the beginning. This was actually something positive, especially since he was also willing to pay them a salary that was above what most slaves would receive. This meant that it would not take them long to get out of debt.
After the contract had been written and signed, she still could not believe their good fortune in securing a kindly master who insisted on paying them so much. Even then, she was waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Perhaps, he was some sort of pervert? Could it be that he required them to do something difficult or heinous? Or, could it be…
Whatever she had imagined, it was not the perfectly nice house that they received upon arriving at Mukuoda’s estate.
The job was simple enough: guard the gates on a rotational basis and… that was it.
Mukouda-san did not seem to have a firm idea of what to do with them. Therefore, Tabasa had taken it upon herself to give suggestions. Later, after receiving approval for nearly all of her suggestions, she had taken it upon herself to organise the guards and even get them to help with the packaging work as well. She was also the one who organised the guards for little Costi whenever he went out on his errands.
She also assigned Peter to look after Lotte specifically whenever any of the civilians ventured outside for whatever reason, be it to shop, eat, or look around town. The little cub was a sweet girl, but she tended to attract trouble.
Later, when Mukouda-san asked her to teach the children some letters, she was a little dubious, but was more than happy to comply. Even after she had done all she could, she still felt that she had not done enough to warrant the good salary and excellent quality of life that Mukouda-san had granted her and her brothers.
Life was… good.
No, life was beyond good. It was excellent!
She could not recall the last time she had felt this relaxed. There were no worries about what to do or where to go next. The biggest decision she had to make in a day was what to teach, but most of that was already done by the time the children were sufficiently used to the teaching pace.
She did not even have to decide when or what to eat. Food was prepared by Teresa, Aiya and Celia, as for the timing to eat, that was already decided ahead of time through the guard rotation schedule. Her idiot brothers often made a game of guessing what would be served for lunch, but that was it.
Then, she fell in love.
And it was… a very sweet and fluffy experience, nothing at all like the screaming deep love that one of her former comrades had complained to her about, but a sweet, loving and gentle experience.
Sure, it was not as passionate as the books she used to read in secret, but who needs all that unnecessary dramatics when they could have something so gentle and lovely?
Just like this life with Mukouda-san.
There was no great adventure, no dramatic happening, just… a nice life.
She could get used to this.
Peter
Life is good.
Good friends, good friend, good home and good companion. The food was really, really nice, and although he did not know why Bartel liked beer and alcohol so much, Peter enjoyed the sweet fizzy drinks that Mukouda-san would sometimes give them.
It was nice to have fresh bread every day and meat at least every other day, too.
Life had not always been good to Peter. He was a half-giant, and lots of people like to point that out to him. As though he did not know his own race.
His mother had been a small giant, and that came with its own lot of comments, but she was really proud of him. Mother was really happy when he became an Adventurer. Finally, he had friends and comrades who relied on him.
He, Peter the Half-Giant, had friends and was out making money for the family. Luckily, the Giant half of his blood meant that he was built very sturdy and did not need any expensive armour or equipment.
This meant he could send most of his money home for Mother.
Later, he bought himself a giant hammer and their party went on more missions. Life was looking up when suddenly, news came from his village.
Mother was sick.
Mother was sick and he tried very hard to make her better. His friends helped, but they were a new team and did not have much to spare. He borrowed medicine from the shops and eventually…
Mother died.
It was very sad.
People said that it was sad that he was sent to be a slave, but all Peter could think about was Mother.
He had not thought much about being made into a slave. When he was sent to the trader’s place, the people there jeered at him. Called him a half and all other names. That hurt, but not as much as the hurt when Mother died.
Later, at Mukouda-san’s place, he had work to do.
At that place, life was slow and soothing. There were lots of nice people there. People like Lotte and the twins. The regular people were a bit afraid of him, but that was alright. Bartel was nice to him, too and…
The nicest person there was Tabasa.
She treated him like a person, gave him orders and told him what to do in a nice way. Even when the twins were naughty, she was still kind to them. It was nice.
That’s right, life is really nice.

This is 27 and then it skips to 28. Perhaps it’s to write more employees fanfics? We didn’t get Bartel’s perspective and one of the twins I think.
I could write more when inspiration strikes!
