Wen Heng stood in place for a long while, surrounded by the scattered memories of his past. He had intended to tell his brother all these things. The past, which had been lodged like a stone in his heart, had been gradually eroded by the river of time. Though part of it will always stay with him, the grievances, pains and sorrows of the memories were no longer there. All that was left was a wistful longing.
Wen Xian stood behind his brother, studying the still back. He had no memory of this place and could not understand his brother’s feelings. Nevertheless, he could see the lonely outline of his those strong shoulders.
“Brother,” Wen Xian suddenly called out.
Wen Heng turned, “Yes?”
Wen Xian ran into his brother’s arms and rubbed his cheek against his chest, “I’m so happy that you’re my brother.”
“… …” Wen Heng smiled and pushed him away. “Still, there’s no need to rub your snot against me.”
Wen Xian pouted, “Brother, I am not snotty! Also, why are you so fastidious? You can’t get a wife like this,”
“I’m serious! You’re already this old, it’s about time you get yourself a wife. Back in the Ninth Realm, I had a neighbour called Er Niu who got married at 16. You must be over 200 but still haven’t held a girl’s hand…”
“Yes, I did,”
“… ah?” Wen Xian’s eyes widen. His hands shook, “Y-you’ve held hands with another person before?”
For some reason, this information filled Wen Xian with horror. That’s not right, ah. Surely this is a good thing? Why am I so horrified?
Wen Heng ignored his brother’s silly thoughts and looked him up and down, “Aren’t you cold?”
“No? My clothes are warm enough- where are my clothes!” Wen Xian suddenly shouted, patting his body all over. What had once been proper clothes had turned into thin rags. When he patted the rags, it disintegrated into fine dust. Face red with shame, he quickly dashed into a different room.
Seeing his little brother’s antics, a flash of amusement brightened Wen Heng’s eyes.
Wen Heng stepped to the door where Wen Xian had dashed through. Though it looked like it leads to the inner rooms of a standard mansion, beyond the door was the entrance to the void.
Hm, he hoped this little brother of his enjoy running around naked…

Imperial Capital, Eastern Martial Empire.
The days have been getting hotter lately, with the cries of cicadas heralding the arrival of summer. It was so hot that the entire city seemed to wilt under the sweltering heat of the yellow sun. However, this fact was only limited to the mundane population. Cultivators could control their own internal temperature and were rarely bothered by the changing seasons.
The Imperial College itself has the added bonus of the large trees and forested hills that kept the place cool during the summer months and blocked off freezing winds during winter. Though there were no tall trees planted around the Villa, the temperature was still relatively cool compared to outside.
Right now, there was only Shiyu at the Villa
She was currently prepping and organising ingredients in the kitchen.
Of the over 3,000 Beast Cores sent by the Dean, there were 1,800 Rank 1 cores, a little over 1,000 Rank 2 cores, 500 Rank 3 cores and more than 80 Rank 4 cores. As for Rank 5 cores, there was only that single Fire Attribute core sent over by Patriarch Ling.
Aside from cores, there was also a lot of Spiritual Beast meat. She guessed that she probably has every single type that could be bought in the market.
After considering the meat and cores available, Shiyu finally settled on a Swelling Ocean Ice Beast. This Ice Beast was a Rank 3 monster with no fur. It has an ice blue, translucent body and was rather cute when just born. Therefore, it was considered an auspicious type of beast.
A fully grown Swelling Ocean Ice Beast was as gorgeous as a crystal blue ice sculpture, but their ferocity belies their beautiful appearance. These creatures become more and more translucent the more Spiritual energy they swallow. Even their flesh would gain a hint of blue.
When Shiyu first saw this creature, she had to look it up in the <<Monster Beast Log>> to find out more about it.
“An Ice Attribute monster? Sounds interesting,”
Shiyu lowered the book and cut off a small piece of meat with Supreme Indifferent. There was a faint pattern of fat on the meat, like snowflakes on the translucent flesh. It felt very light and a little cold.
She placed the meat on the cutting board before slicing off bits of meat from different parts of the body to compare. She found that the belly flesh was the clearest and most translucent. However, there was very little of it, only about the size of a palm. Shiyu carefully cut off this section and set it aside. She also found the beast core and set that aside too.
Shiyu studied the translucent meat and suddenly thought of Vermillion Meat. Master Wang used pork fat to make that dish. She stroked the slightly transparent meat, it has similar properties as pork fat but with a much better texture. If she were to make Vermillion Meat with this belly meat, she might achieve some unexpected results.
Now that she had decided on the recipe, Shiyu settled down to process the Swelling Ocean Ice Beast belly meat to make Vermillion Meat.
Instead of a pot, Shiyu uses a round, three-legged cauldron to cook her Spiritual beast meat. Shiyu was halfway through when a sudden thought struck her. San Pang, as a Radish Demon has blood essence, surely other demons should have this too? Was this the reason why eating the meat alone contributed so little to their Cultivation?
At this, Shiyu paused in her cooking.
She took out another Swelling Ocean Ice Beast and, instead of cutting into it, placed her hands on the beast and called up Ocean Heart Flame. The fire gently engulfed the creature, slowly purifying its flesh. The whole creature gradually became smaller and smaller, its flesh clearer and more translucent, especially the belly portion.
The light blue of the creature deepened into a more glacial hue. Bits of the creature, the extremities and other impure bits eventually turned into ashes and fell off. Finally, the only part of the meat that was not burnt off was a palm-size bit of belly meat where the majority of the Spiritual energy had collected.
Shiyu focused her attention on this second piece of meat and risked raising Ocean Heart Flame’s temperature. However, no matter how she tried to roast the meat, it did not change colour. Finally, Shiyu put away her flames and stared at the perfectly gorgeous rectangle of deep blue crystal. She poked it. The blue crystal wobbled like jelly and reflected sunlight onto the ceiling.
She leaned closer and took a sniff. It smelled very clean and pleasant. So, this is the essence of a Swelling Ocean Ice Beast? How interesting.
Compared to the first piece of meat, this second belly meat did not need much processing. She placed it into the broth and began to simmer it with Ocean Heart Flame. The cauldron was quite capable of handling the Spiritual fire, unlike the claypot from before. Shiyu closed her eyes and used her mental powers to sense the changes in the meat.
Like this, Shiyu carefully simmered the meat for close to six hours before it was taken out.
[Gumihou: … what happened to the first piece of meat? Did you throw it away? Please don’t be wasteful. Global food waste is a major issue you know?!]

Adjusted Details for Dramatic Purpose: Adjusted the details for maximum emotional impact. Added Details for Comedic & Logistic Purpose: I think this is supposed to be a funny scene? Gave it a little more detail to properly appreciate the joke. Adjusted Detail for Logistic Purpose: ‘It’s flesh turned into ash bit by bit’ followed by ‘the meat gradually became even clearer’
… are you utilizing drying or burning technique?
Move ‘turning into ash’ into the later paragraphs.
